Women who performed reserve service during their pregnancy, please note that the National Insurance takes steps to ensure your ability to receive all the rights due to you in relation to maternity allowance.
The months of reserve service will be included in the qualifying period for maternity allowance
In the examination of entitled to maternity allowance, we will count the months of reserve service as qualifying period in the examination of her eligibility for maternity allowance, even if she stopped her work before becoming pregnant.
In other words, regarding a woman who either failed to accrued any qualifying period or accrued a partial qualifying period through her work - we will check the number of months she served as reservist, and based on these months we will assess here eligibility for a full or partial maternity allowance.
Maternity allowance will be calculated based on reserve service benefits too
The amount of the maternity allowance is calculated upon her work salary and/or the reserve service benefits paid to her.
