Funding complementary (alternative) medicine treatments


Victims of hostile actions and hostages returned from captivity are eligible for funding of complementary (alternative) treatments that will help them in their recovery.

This aid is offered to hostile actions victims for whom a degree of disability has not yet been determined as well as those who have received a disability degree of up to 19% caused by a mental injury - and who are not entitled to complementary medical care under the "One Soul" reform.

Who is eligible for financing?

  • Children up to age 18 who are recognized as victims of anxiety / stress disorder.
  • Adults aged 18 and older who are recognized as victims of anxiety / stress disorder and are currently receiving medical care. To the claim must be attached an authorization on the medical treatment.
  • Hostages returned from captivity.

Types of treatments

Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Tuina, Medical Massage, Feldenkrais, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Alexander Method, Yoga, Watsu, Pilates, Horse Assisted Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy, Music Therapy, Water Therapy (such as: surfing), Biofeedback, Diet, Homeopathy, Tai Chi, Hypnotherapy, Naturopathy, Mindfulness, Bach Flowers, Qigong, Albaum Method, Paula Method.

Treatments can be provided by private therapist or in complementary medicine clinics of a health maintenance organization (HMO).

How to receive funding?

The funding is given for treatments provided as of 7.10.23 onwards by one of the following means:

1. Those receiving treatments from a private therapist

You have to schedule treatments and pay by yourself, and we will give you refunds for the treatments up to the maximum amount.

 Please note,  a claim must be submitted for each family member separately.

Documents to attach to the claim:

  • Tax invoices/receipts including: details of the therapist or clinic, dates of treatment provision and type of treatments provided, amount paid for the treatment. (Hand-written receipts cannot be attached). Please note, the therapist must be an authorized business, i.e. exempt/authorized/private business (any business structure recognized by tax authorities).
  • Handling doctor's authorization on the treatment (hostages returned from captivity and children do not need to attach this authorization).

2. Those receiving treatments through complementary medicine clinics in HMOs

  • If they have made a self-participation payment for the treatment - they have to submit a refund claim via the website (as detailed above).
  • They can also receive a treatment without self-participation payment and the National Insurance will pay the HMO directly for the treatment up to the maximum amount. If the price of the treatment exceeds the maximum amount - the patient will pay the difference to the HMO.
    Please note that in order to receive a treatment through a HMO, you need to provide the HMO with a certificate of recognition as hostile actions casualty.

Refund amount

  • Maximum refund amount: NIS 305 per  treatment. NIS 6,000 per calendar year. NIS 1,500 for the year 2023.
  • The refund will be credited to your bank account directly. You can update your bank account on this link. Refunds for children will be transferred to the bank account of the parent receiving for them benefits as victim of hostile actions.
