Grant to spouses of reservists who were called to service


​The National Insurance will pay a grant to the spouse of a reservist as well as to those who have a child with a reservist, who went on unpaid leave - provided they are meeting the conditions of entitlement.

Who is entitled to the grant:

  • Those who went on unpaid leave during the period of reserve service of the spouse.

    or
  • Those who went on unpaid leave during the period of reserve service of the person with whom you had a child.

Conditions of entitlement:

To receive the grant one must meet all the following conditions:

  1. You are an Israeli resident aged 18 and older.
  2. You have a spouse who performed reserve service for at least 21 consecutive days between 7.10.23 and 31.12.24. Or you have a child with a parent who performed reserve service for at least 21 consecutive days between these dates.
  3. You went on unpaid leave for a period of 21 consecutive days at least during the period of reserve service of the spouse or the parent of the child.
  4. You have a child up to age 14 or a child who is a special needs student (under the Special Education Law) up to age 21 who is living with you - including a foster care child.
  5. You have worked as salaried employee for 6 months out of the 18 months preceding the unpaid leave.

Grant amount:

The amount of the grant is calculated as follows:

  • The amount of the grant per day corresponds to 70% of your income (subject to payment of insurance contributions) in the last 6 full months preceding the unpaid leave, divided by 180. Please note that the maximum amount per day is: NIS 1,634.
  • The amount of the grant is the amount of your grant per day multiplied by the number of days spent on unpaid leave - up to 30 days at most.

How to receive the grant?

To receive the grant one must fill out a declaration form on the website.

Important information!

  • It is a one-time grant.
  • The grant is not considered income for purpose of other entitlements.
  • It is impossible to receive this grant together with unemployment benefits or a maternity allowance.
  • A new mother who received a grant from the IDF Assistance Fund for the 21 days following the end of the maternity leave - is not entitled to this grant for that same period.
