You may be eligible for a one-time grant for the purchase of a first apartment.
Please note:
- This provided by the Rehabilitation Department is a supplementary amount granted after proof of payment of the rest of the total cost of the apartment.
- The apartment must be registered in the name of the eligible person only (but if he is married or in a common-law union, it can also be registered in the name of the spouse).
- Even if the released hostage is a minor, the appartment must be registered under his name exclusively. In this case, before realizing this right an court approuval is required - this in accordance to the Legal Training and Guardianship Law.
Grant amount
The amount of the grant depends on the medical condition as determined by the Medical Boards, and ranges from NIS 245,057 to NIS 300,080.
Anyone who is entitled to an aid in purchasing an apartment also due to the entitlement of a member of a bereaved family or a family of a hostage will be able to receive combined assistance.
As part of the combined assistance, the higher of the two entitlements and half of the amount of the assistance in the other entitlement will be given.
How to receive the grant?
To receive the grant, the rehabilitation worker must be presented with a grant/loan application (BL/590), an apartment purchase contract (the contract should state on which floor the apartment is located and whether there is an elevator in the building), a certificate of lack of housing from the Ministry of Construction and Housing or an affidavit signed by an attorney explaining why there is no such certificate, and a receipt for payment.
In case of an apartment under construction, one must add a building permit, a quote regarding the cost of construction, an agreement or contract with the contractor on the execution of the construction and approval of a supervisor, engineer or architect on the construction of the framework.
