Repayment of a standing loan

Anyone who receives a standing loan from the NII must repay it.

The loan must be repaid under the following circumstances:

1.   When you want to replace your vehicle.

After you have repaid the standing loan on the previous vehicle, you can obtain a new standing loan to cover the taxes applying to the new vehicle.

Please note, in most cases of new vehicle purchase after 42/48/60 months (according to the entitlement you were granted) - there will not be effective repayment.

2.   If one of the following events occurred:

  • The insurance company covering the vehicle determined that the vehicle has been stolen or destroyed.
  • The vehicle was damaged in an accident and an assessor authorized by the National Insurance Institute determined that it would be impossible to repair the vehicle so that it can continue to serve the person with limited mobility.
  • In accordance with the determination made by the Medical Institute for Road Safety, the NII confirmed that the person with limited mobility must replace his vehicle due to new limitations on his driving which do not enable him to continue to use the previous vehicle.
  • The person with limited mobility died and 7 years haven't passed since the day he or she obtained the standing loan.
  • 12 months have elapsed since the date on which one of the conditions of entitlement to the standing loan ceased to be fulfilled. For example, the authorized driver no longer lives at a distance of up to 1500 meters from the place of residence of the person with limited mobility, or the driver's license of the person with limited mobility was suspended.
  • One of the conditions of entitlement to a standing loan was not fulfilled.
  • The person with limited mobility breached his written undertaking.

The NII is entitled to demand repayment of the standing loan in the following cases:

  • The person with limited mobility has been hospitalized for at least six consecutive months and, in certain circumstances, 12 consecutive months.
Despite this, the NII will not demand repayment of the standing loan if the authorized driver who drives for the person with limited mobility continues to care for him during his hospitalization, for as long as he continues to care for him.
However, the person with limited mobility who is hospitalized will not be given a new standing loan.
  • The person with limited mobility has been in prison for at least six months.
  • The person with limited mobility has been abroad for at least six months.
