A child with a significant developmental delay that is noticeable compared to children his age, may be eligible for a Disabled Child Benefit from age 91 days to 3 years.
Determination of developmental delay in most cases requires examination of the child by a Medical Board. If your child is not able to reach the Board because of his disability, this should be indicated on the claim form and, depending on the child's condition, he might be examined at home.
During the board, the doctor examines the child's functioning in comparison to children his age, by assigning an amount of points to every action and determining eligibility according to the total number of points scored.
