A woman who submits a claim for a general disability pension will be examined in the track for housewives according to her capacity to function as a housewife if she meets the definition of a housewife as follows:
“Disabled housewife” – a woman, resident of Israel, aged 18 years at least, who has not yet reached retirement ageThe age at which you will be entitled to the old-age pension, on condition that your income from work and from other sources does not exceed a certain amount. Income from work pension is not taken into account. Retirement is set at age 67 for men and 62-65, according to birth date, for women., is married, does not work either as an employee or self-employed, whose husband is covered by old-age and survivors’ insurance with the National Insurance Institute, and who because of a physical or mental impairment resulting from illness, accident or from birth:

In the definition of a “disabled housewife” the following are not included:

A housewife who worked as a salaried employee or was self-employed for 12 continuous months during the 24 months that preceded the submission of the claim for a disability pension, or 24 non-continuous months over the period of the 48 months that preceded the submission of the claim for a disability pension.

A housewife who stopped working as a salaried employee or self-employed after submitting the claim for a disability pension and has accumulated a work period of 12 continuous months during the 24 months that preceded the submission of the claim for a disability pension, or 24 non-continuous months over the period of the 48 months that preceded the day she stopped working.

A housewife living separately from her husband, who has not lived with him for 24 months preceding the submission of the claim for a disability pension.

A housewife who has separated from her husband after submitting the claim for a disability pension and who has not lived with him for at least 24 months.
A woman who does not meet the definition of a disabled housewife as detailed above will be examined in the framework of the salaried track according to the definition of
disabled An insured, excluding a housewife, who as a result of impairment, fulfills both the following conditions:
a) He is unable to support himself from work or occupation, and his capacity to support himself as above has been reduced as a result of his impairment (all at once or gradually) by 50% or more. b) He has no actual income form work or occupation, or his such income is not over the following:
1. regarding persons entitled to disability pension for a lengthy period or having a serious impairment – 60% of the average wage; 2. regarding persons not entitled to disability pension for a lengthy period and not having a serious impairment – 45% of the average wage. .
