Survivors' pension recipient entitled to an old-age pension


Survivors' pension recipients who are also entitled to an old-age pension or an old-age pension recipients who are also entitled to a survivors' pension - will receive the benefits as follows:
  • Those who have accumulated a the insurance period (qualifying period) required by law - will be entitled to a full old-age pension and to half a survivors' pension.
  • Those who have not accumulated the legally required period of insurance, but are covered with old-age insurance - will receive a full survivors' pension.
    Upon completing the required period of insurance - they will receive a full old-age pension and half a survivors' pension.
  • A housewife who is receiving an old-age pension is not entitled to half a survivors' pension, however, at age 70, she will be able to choose between an old-age pension and a survivors' pension.
  • If a new immigrant couple immigrated to Israel at the determining age (62 for men and retirement age for women), and the benefit recipient died - the spouse will continue to receive a special old-age benefit (for an individual) or a special survivors' pension.
  • If a new male immigrant immigrated to Israel after age 62, while his wife immigrated before reaching retirement age and he died - the widow will receive, subject to conditions of entitlement, a special survivors’ pension until she reaches retirement age. 
    If she reaches retirement age, her eligibility for an old-age pension rather than a special survivors' pension will be examined.
