Seniority increment to the old-age pension

The seniority increment is: an increment of 2% to the amount of the basic pension, for each full year of insurance accrued (12 months even non consecutive).
For instance: a person who accrued 15 years of insurance is entitled to a seniority increment at a rate of 30%.

Please note that the maximum seniority increment that one may receive is 50% of the pension.

A seniority increment calculator is at your disposal that helps you check the rate of seniority increment to which your are entitled.

Seniority increment calculation

Periods of seniority includes only the periods of time when you were insured and Israeli resident before the date on which you received an old-age pension, including the periods of insurance for which an old-age pension was not paid for any reason.

Insurance periods taken into account are different for men and women.

Men

In the calculation of seniority for a man will be accounted the periods in which he was insured and Israeli resident, even if he did not work at that time.

Women

In the calculation of seniority for a woman will be accounted all periods in which she has worked, regardless of her family situation, as well as the following periods:

  • Periods in which she was single or divorced.
  • Periods in which she was married to a spouse who is not insured with old-age insurance or not an Israeli resident.
  • Periods in which she was a widow and did not receive a survivors pension or a dependents benefit following the death of her spouse.
  • Periods in which she was Aguna - meaning that she met one of the following criteria:
      • She was married, but two years passed since we lost the whereabouts of her spouse.
      • Her spouse stayed abroad for at least two year, without her consent, and did not pay her alimony during that time.
  • Periods in which she received a disability pension.
