A parent is entitled to receive child allowance for his children until 18 years old.
Parents entitled to the allowance
The following parents are entitled to a child allowance:
A parent who is an Israeli residentA person whose life is centered in Israel. Criteria for determining this include: Israel is your permanent place of residence, where your family resides, where your children go to school, your primary place of work, or where you are studying. .
- A person having a child who is not his own child under his care by guardian appointment order. Without a guardian appointment order, one can still be appointed as the recipient of child allowance. To that end, a NII's local branch must be approached.
- A person who is not an Israeli resident, but lives in Israel with one or more of his children, provided that he or she has been working in Israel as a salaried employee or a self-employed worker for at least six months, and holds a residence and work permit in Israel.
Please note, a child who has immigrated in Israel without his parents, may receive child allowance on his own behalf.
Children for which the allowance is paid
Child allowance is paid to a parent for each of his children who meets all of the following criteria:The child is not yet 18 years of age.
The child is not married.
